"Soul Vacation" Rats & Star
They're "Rats & Star", formerly called "Chanels", is a male J-pop group which specializes in doo-wop-influenced music. The band debuted in 1980 with their first single "Runaway" selling over a million copies and becoming a HUGE hit. I remember that I used to sing "Runaway" and "Me-Gumi no Hito" by imitating them with my friends when I was a kid.
Everybody was surprised them. Because they put on SHOE POLISH on their faces!!!
But soon, they have changed from shoe polish to a brown/black foundation, after all. Because their skin were getting annoyingly rough. LOL.
In 1983, the band changed its name to "Rats & Star" due to complaints from the French fashion GIANT Chanel. Andy Warhol created the album cover for "Soul Vacation".
